About Amanda
In 1996 I discovered the transformative power of Yoga when a friend recommended it to alleviate the stress of my city job. Struggling to relax and experiencing shortness of breath, I realised I was missing something essential despite thinking I was physically fit. Yoga revealed a powerful union of mind, body and spirit, using the breath. This connection has deepened my self-awareness, developed my mental resilience and clarity and cultivated emotional balance and spiritual growth. This magical combination has completely changed my life and I am so grateful to share this knowledge with others as a career.
Teaching Yoga
I began my teaching journey in 2011 when I started to offer Yoga classes to my colleagues at the company I worked at. I continue to run two weekly lunchtime Yoga classes at the same company.

I teach a variety of group Yoga classes and workshops at two local Yoga studios (see Book - Yoga Class page). I also teach private one-to-one classes for individuals and/or a partner or friend, either at my home or at yours.

During my Yoga teaching journey, it’s been so rewarding to see people change physically and mentally in such a positive way, after only several months of practicing Yoga.

I teach a variety of styles such as Vinyasa Flow Yoga which is the more active practice and Yin and Restorative Yoga classes for those who are looking for a deeply relaxing, introspective practice. These floor-based yoga practices may be more suitable for those recovering from injuries and illness. For those who are just starting out on their Yoga journey, I teach Karuna Yoga, which is similar to Iyengar Yoga, using props to assist with alignment, this is a great foundation to start with. See my Offerings page for full details of the different styles of Yoga I teach.

Over the years I have explored many different styles such as Hatha, Iyengar Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Sivananda, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Bikram, Kundalini and more and have been taught by many inspiring Yoga teachers. As a result of this I feel I can keep my classes interesting and adapt and tailor my teaching to a wide range of people with a mixed level of experience.

I always include a sprinkling of Yogic philosophy, pranayama (breathing), meditation and sometimes Yoga Nidra (deeply relaxing yogic sleep at the end of the class). I like to focus on a mix of qualities such as alignment, balance, strength and at the same time keeping the balance between effort and ease.

My studies are ongoing with Yogic philosophy and the integration of Chinese Medicine trainings on the meridians into my Yin classes, Sound Healing, Buddhist teachings, Vedanta and meditations.

Some of my teachers who have taught and/or inspired me are: BKS Iyengar, Shiva Rea, Tara Brach, Moojibaba, Janet Stone, Bridget Woods-Kramer, Anna Ashby, Ruth White, Sarah Lo, Norman Blair, Linda D’Antal, Vidya Heisel, Lydia Petkova, Anna Sugarman.
Yoga Trainings
I started my Yoga teacher training with an Integrated Vinyasa Yoga and Ayurveda 200-hour in Costa Rica in 2011. To deepen my skills, I followed this with a 500-hour teacher training with Ruth White who was one of lyengar's students. I went on to train with Anna Ashby in Restorative Yoga and trained with Norman Blair in Yin Yoga. Following this, I completed the L2 Yin Yoga course with Sarah Lo, which covered the meridians (energy channels in Chinese Medicine), fascia, mindfulness and meditation. I completed Sarah's Lo's Yin Yoga L3 in October 2024, which covered myofascial release, somatics, mindfullness and compassion. In February 2025 I will be training in sound therapy and will integrate Sound Baths into Yin and Restorative Yoga immersions and workshops and as a standalone offering.

I will always continue to attend further CPD trainings to broaden my experience.
